As the Austin History Center Association (AHCA) begins the search for a permanent Executive Director, we recognize the impact of Daniel Ronan, who served as Interim Executive Director from December 2023 through October 2024. With his contract now coming to a close, AHCA moves forward with a stronger foundation thanks to his leadership in stabilizing operations, strengthening partnerships, and setting the stage for future growth.

Daniel stepped into the role at a pivotal time, ensuring the passage of a long-overdue budget and hiring Jefferson Nunez as AHCA’s Associate Development Director to expand fundraising and operations. He also implemented employee health insurance—including dental and vision—for the first time in the organization’s history. His focus on financial sustainability helped raise $45,000 through grants, Amplify Austin, and individual giving while also shepherding the Roy Bush Bypass Estate gift to secure a stronger endowment.
AHCA’s relationship with Austin Public Library (APL) reached new levels of collaboration under Daniel’s leadership, culminating in the most comprehensive agreement between the two organizations to date. He facilitated regular board meetings—more frequent and structured than in years past—ensuring transparency and continuity. His work reinvigorated AHCA’s Investment Committee, providing renewed attention to long-term financial planning.
Beyond AHCA’s internal operations, Daniel played a key role in strengthening relationships with city and federal leaders. He connected with Mayor Kirk Watson, Council Member Zo Qadri, County Commissioner Ann Howard, and Congressman Lloyd Doggett, keeping AHCA at the forefront of discussions on historic preservation. He also leveraged his experience in Washington, D.C., to advocate for the Historic Federal Tax Credit, which will directly impact the future expansion of the Austin History Center campus.
With Daniel’s contract now concluded, AHCA moves forward with a renewed focus on the future. The search for a permanent Executive Director is now underway and is being conducted by The Moran Company (morancompany.com).
