The Austin History Center Association (AHCA) is deeply honored to celebrate the lives and lasting impact of Roy and Linda Bush, two extraordinary individuals whose love for Austin and its history has left an enduring mark on our city. As longtime supporters and dedicated stewards of historical preservation, Roy and Linda not only contributed their time and expertise to AHCA, but also made an extraordinary legacy gift of $1.1 million to ensure the continued safeguarding of Austin’s past for future generations.

Roy Bush, who passed away in 2017, was a passionate advocate for history and community service. Linda Bush, equally devoted, continued their shared commitment to AHCA until her passing in 2023. With foresight, they planned this legacy gift to sustain and strengthen the organization’s mission beyond their lifetimes.
Of their generous bequest, 95% was placed into AHCA’s endowment, where it will generate annual dividends to support our operational budget for years to come. Their commitment ensures a lasting impact, providing the financial stability needed to expand preservation efforts, enhance accessibility to historical archives, and continue the work they both cared so deeply about.
In addition to their financial support and Linda’s service as a board member, Roy and Linda Bush also contributed their personal papers to the Austin History Center, enriching the archive with valuable documents that preserve Austin’s evolving story. Their generosity reflects a profound belief in the power of history—not just as a record of the past, but as a guiding force for the future.
We are grateful for their unwavering support, their love for this city, and the enduring impact of their legacy. Roy and Linda Bush’s dedication will continue to inspire all who cherish Austin’s history, and their generosity will help shape the work of AHCA for generations to come.
