Join us as author Patricia Bernstein discusses her acclaimed book, Ten Dollars to Hate: The Texas Man Who Fought the Klan. This gripping work tells the story of Texas district attorney Dan Moody, who in 1923 became the first prosecutor to successfully convict and jail Ku Klux Klan members, striking a blow against organized hate.
Bernstein, a Texas native and author of The First Waco Horror, brings deep historical insight to this discussion. Ten Dollars to Hate was named one of the 53 best books ever written about Texas by the Austin American-Statesman.
Help us in making our circle fuller—bring a guest who isn’t a member and introduce them to AHCA over an engaging conversation and fine dining.
Tickets are $60 per person, with discounted parking available for $10. Join us at the Headliners Club on Tuesday, February 25, 2025, at 11:30 AM.

About Fuller Circle

Named for Stephen Fuller Austin, The Fuller Circle is a series highlighting Texas authors, artists, and storytellers. These events provide an intimate setting to explore Texas history, culture, and overlooked stories over a fine dining experience.
Past speakers have included Margaret Justus, who led the Ann Richards Legacy Project; historian Ken Roberts, author of The Cedar Choppers; and Jesse Sublett, who chronicled Austin's underworld in Austin Gangsters.
As we continue these conversations, we invite you to help make our circle fuller—introduce someone new to AHCA and be part of this ongoing tradition of sharing knowledge and ideas.
