The Austin History Center Association (AHCA) had a banner weekend at the Texas Book Festival, showcasing our work, engaging with history enthusiasts, and sharing Austin’s unique stories through Waterloo Press.
Author Michael Barnes drew crowds as he signed copies of his acclaimed Indelible Austin series. Attendees loved connecting with the stories that bring Austin’s rich culture and history to life. Alongside his signing, the AHCA booth team handed out free posters, which brought hundreds of visitors to our booth throughout the event.
This year, our booth was positioned right on the sidewalk, an update that generated incredible visibility. General Manager Fotini Margos noted, “Our new location gave us a fantastic opportunity to connect with more festival attendees, and it made a significant difference in bringing people to our booth.”
We are also thrilled to report an impressive $9,000 in sales over the weekend! Many of the items sold included rare inventory we’ve held onto for years, including some gems from the 1970s. The renewed interest in these long-held pieces highlights the continued passion for preserving and celebrating Austin’s history.
Thank you to everyone who visited our booth, picked up a poster, purchased a book, or stopped to chat. Your enthusiasm for Austin’s heritage inspires us to continue our mission.
