We held our association’s 46th Annual Meeting on June 22nd, 2025. The event was a success in many ways, most importantly as a means to bring new faces into our community of Austin History lovers. Over half of the event’s 200 attendees were brand new to our association!

The event began with a spirited networking time before our association’s programming was presented. Executive Director Adam Powell kicked things off by sharing our association’s history and an impact report focused on the work accomplished over the 2024-25 fiscal year. Adam was joined by the Austin History Center Division Manager Jennifer Chenoweth, who shared updates on the status of their expansion into the John Henry Faulk Central Library. Be on the lookout for news on AHC’s reopening soon!
The program shifted into a recognition of our Board of Directors for the 2025-26 fiscal year. Board President Charles Peveto and Board Vice President Alicia Perez-Hodge also acknowledge the dedicated service of our four departing Board Members: Amy Wong Mok, Candace Volz, Marilynn Poole-Webb, and Mike Tolleson. Our entire association couldn’t be more grateful for their years of dedicated service.
Our program concluded with an original founder of AHCA, Martha Hartzog, recognizing two exceptional Austinites for their efforts in preserving and celebrating Austin History.
Robert Godwin received recognition for his work as a photographer. Over four decades, Robert worked at over 27,000 events and took over 700,000 photos primarily here in Austin, Texas. This work culminated in a book published by Waterloo Press: Faces of Texas Philanthropy.

Ted Lee Eubanks received our association’s highest honor: the annual Katherine Drake Hart Preservation Award. Ted has worked as a professional interpretive planner in the Austin area for over 30 years, and his work in preserving Austin History has impacted some of the most important landmarks in the city. He has worked on the Neil-Cochran House Museum Slave Quarters, Wooldridge Square Park, Eastwoods Park, Saint Mary Cathedral, Mount Calvary Cemetery, Shoal Creek, and so much more. Suffice to say, Austin is a better place because of Ted’s dedicated work.
